August Parent Conferences

Our first parent conference will be done as a small group presentation. A note went home today with all students that includes a sign up sheet. You get to pick the day/time you want to come to the presentation. Please note that all 3rd grades will be presenting at 2:45 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday as well as 5:15, 5:45, and 6:15 on Tuesday night. Since many of you pick up your students, it may be more convenient for you to see me at 1:30 when you pick up your child. If that's the case, please just come to room (405) at 1:30 and I'll go over everything with you then. I will go over...
1. How to read your state testing results.
2. Homework (DOT binder)
3. AR and Pearson Successnet
4. School-Student-Parent Contract (signature)
5. Web based communications
a. Twitter
b. Blog
c. Edmodo
d. Celly
There will be time after to answer your questions. I look forward to seeing you next week.

Welcome Class of 2013-2014

Welcome to our class blog. Please know this will be used to share information and pictures of things we're doing but never personal information or pictures of any of the students because it is a public blog. The school year is off to a great start. I love my new bunch of Wildcats! I am excited about working with this fun group of kids. As I get to know my students better I hope to get to know the families better too. Please feel free to email anytime or stop by the classroom at the end of the day if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Mrs, Roberts

3 Branches of Government

This video is about the 3 branches of our government. We will be discussing these in class this week.  Think:  If you could work in one of these branches of government, which one would it be and why?

New Additions to the Classroom

One of the rules for our biome project was not to include any living things that could escape.  Well, apparently worms can escape.  And, when they dry up and die ants find them.  We had several piles of ants, concentrated (vocabulary!) on a few worms in the back of our room.  I managed to get most into the trash can and then hosed down the rest.  My custodian is going to love me!

But wait, there's one more new addition and this one isn't so bad, a caterpillar on our sunflower.  And today it was in a cocoon!  The student took it home so she'll have to keep us updated on its progress.
